Being heard

The other day, I had an interesting conversation with a lovely lady who was suffering from the same problems I am. We shared, and afterwards, she thanked me for ‘hearing’ her. I’d never really heard this term before (excuse the unintended pun) and it made me think:

when were we last truly heard? Do we actually hear what people say to us? Do we truly listen to ourselves and others?

Going hand in hand with being heard is knowing that we are important. Our words carry great weight, be they words of joy or otherwise.

Being ”heard” can be healing, and life changing. Really listening to another can be affirming to someone that they’re valuable.
